STYGION Launcher s0.14.0: what's new
Your configs stay yours, a mod's libraries leave with it, and nothing long runs without a window that says what it does.
New
- Configs that belong to you. A pack made with STYGION Workbench 0.3 can mark files and folders (minimap waypoints, keybinds,
options.txt) as yours: an update keeps your copy, never asks about it and never deletes it; a file you do not have yet comes from the pack. - A mod's dependencies leave with it. Libraries added because a mod needed them are remembered as its dependencies. Removing the mod offers to remove the ones nothing else needs (ticked); removing a library another mod needs says which one first. Keystone takes STYGION Library along.
- No mod the game will not start with. Before a mod (or anything that comes along with it, or what a server recommends) is added, the launcher reads what it needs of the loader; when the instance's loader is too old, nothing is added and a window says so — with Update to X and add where a fitting loader exists (not on a modpack's instance, whose loader belongs to the pack).
- Fabric mods on NeoForge/Forge through Sinytra Connector. On NeoForge 1.21.1 (and Forge 1.20.1) the mod search also lists Fabric mods, in their own section; adding one asks first and brings Sinytra Connector and Forgified Fabric API as its dependencies, so they leave with it. Connector usually works, not with every Fabric mod.
- The crash window names a mod that needs a different version of another mod or of the loader.
- Keystone without STYGION Library in the server's version gets only the Library offered (from CurseForge's metadata), instead of nothing.
- An install window for everything that takes a while: adding what a server recommends, adding or updating a mod with its dependencies, checking and repairing files, importing a pack file and going back to a backup — each step with its name, and Cancel where it can stop.
- The update window remembers which parts you back up per pack, lets you keep, update or remove your own mods along with the pack, and has Take the pack's configs (like a clean install of configs; the backup keeps yours). It names versions as the pack does (
12.4.0), not by file numbers, and warns when the new version is for an older Minecraft. - Recommended JVM flags are shown — globally and per instance, for this computer's Java and memory — with Copy into Custom.
- Discord shows the pack's own icon as the big picture (from CurseForge's or Modrinth's image servers only).
- Benchmark: you can agree to send while the test runs; Send at the end then goes out without the 90 s wait.
Fixed
- Stop closes the game the way its window does (with 10 s to save) before it is killed — packs with Crash Assistant no longer report a crash. The same after a benchmark and while looking for the culprit.
- A CurseForge pack that lists a world gets it unpacked into
saves/once (never over your world of the same name), not dropped intomods/. - When CurseForge does not answer about a pack's projects, the install says so instead of putting shaders into
mods/; busy CurseForge (429) and dropped connections are tried again with a pause. - Repair of a resource pack or a shader from CurseForge works.
- "Waiting for a locked file" disappears once the last locked file is in.
- Mods the server's list names but whose author allows downloads only on CurseForge's site come through CurseForge's window, as for packs.
- A pack that ships Keystone no longer brings its own version back over the server's on every update.
- Changing a pack's version never shows an empty window; when the portal says nothing about the version, the window says so.
- The launcher does not install its own update while a game or an install is running, and a download cut short leaves everything as it was and offers the update again.
- On Linux the window is painted again after a resize (the bottom of the sidebar could stay blank).
- Security: nothing is downloaded over plain
http://(upgraded tohttps://), a redirect never goes down tohttp://or from CurseForge to another host, and links inside pack descriptions can no longer openstygion://through the system. - Keystone 0.3.4 comes with STYGION Library, without which the game does not start. "Server recommends" adds everything CurseForge (and Modrinth) says Keystone requires along with it, and the window shows what comes along ("What it needs comes along: …").
- Required dependencies all the way down: a library a library needs is added too — for mods the server recommends and for mods added by hand from the catalogue. Each project once, an endless circle of dependencies ends, optional ones are never added, and what the instance already has (even under another name) is not downloaded again.
